I have 3 VB.net executables that reference the same 3 VB.Net DLLs.
How is the best way to distribute the EXEs without putting 3 copies of
of DLL on a user's machine. I looked into Private assemblies and the
Global Assembly but I am having a hard time figuring them out.
Ideally, I would like to have one install that puts all 3 EXEs and all
3 DLLs on the workstation. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I am kinda new to the whole distribution process.
I several programs that I am writing that use common .NET DLLs. I want
each program to use the same DLLs in a "COMMON" folder. How do I get
the released build to reference those DLLs?
The debug version works fine (within the VS Environment).
Thanks,
Doug

I've got an ASP.NET website on my local box, set to compile to
bin\Debug and bin\Release in debug and release modes. Both directories
are populated with dlls, as the solution has been compiled in both
modes. When I browse to the local website, it works, but which set of
dlls is it using? What happens when I deploy to Test and there is only
a \bin\ directory, no \Debug or \Release?
I assume .NET has some path-searching rules that govern...

I'm sure there's an obvious way to do this, but I'm missing it so far.
I have an ASP.NET application that relies on several DLLs to work. Currently
in order to get my site working I have to put them all in the bin/ folder
within my web site's directory.
As I have numerous web sites, I want to be able to place all of these DLLs
just once into a single location elsewhere on the disk (e.g., "D:\DLLs"). I
don't want to put them into the...

Hi,All,
When i deploy Enterprise library with my application ,i used XCOPY to
deploy it into my test server. But when application runs, shown some error
related registry. (But actually I haven't any method or component to wrote
registry)
After I used "InstallUtil" to registry Enterprise Library (those DLLs)
to the deployment server, the application runs smoothly.
Now I wonder why i need to registry those Enterprise Library DLLs into

Hi everyone,
I recently wrote a vb.net app which includes some crystal reports.
The user has very little money in their budget and have been without a
working application for quite a while. This being the case I worked
with what was available: I used vb.net and crystal 8.5. The crystal
reports are being viewed in the crystal report viewer which is still
included in vb.net. I went ahead with developing this project because
I found that...

Hi,
I'm trying to register my Dlls in the client machine without using any
deployment package. I tried copying all the files and Dlls to a specified
folder and run, but then the application crashes.
Do I have to use some tool like “regsvr32.exe” or “gacutil.exe” to
registry the Dlls in the client machine?
Thank you,
Roby Eisenbraun Martins

I have learned about compartmentalizing my code base using Class Libraries.
I have my common code such as my ORM framework broken out into their own
Class Libraries, which are referenced as projects from my Website.
I also have a common set of DLLs I use across all of my applications. It
would be great if I could put all of those DLLs into their own projects, and
to reference that project from various solutions.
The way my solution is...

Using Visual Studio 2005, I have created 4 small DLLs that our company
projects can use to access common tools included in each of the separate DLL
files.
Our Visual Studio 2005 applications call the DLLs and run them without any
problem.
Now we are trying to deploy the first of these applications, and we are now
stumped. The Visual Studio 2005 Deployment Project includes all of the DLL
files and successfully creates the setup.exe...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
