Hello Esteemed Developers and Experts,
I have been using Microsoft Visual C++ .NET for 1 year. During this time,
I have searhed some topics over internets. Most of the topics about .NET is
related to C# and Visual Basic .NET. There are less documents about Visual
C++ .NET or Managed C++.
I wonder the reasons of below questions:
1) Is C# more powerful than Managed C++ and Visual C++ .NET?
2) Is Microsoft intending to support C# and...

I have an existing VC6 application using the MFC.
I am able to pass CString and other parameters from such a VC6 dll to an
unmanaged MFC dll (compiled in Visual Studio .NET).
Now I want to use .Net functionality, i.e. calling methods in managed code.
How do I pass CString variables for input and output usage, i.e. providing
and retrieving char arrays?
Regards,
Klaus

I am a little lost which is not out of place for me. Anyway here is the story. I wrote a C# class library (managed code) and have a VC++ project that is not managed and am having a few issues. When I call my library I return an array list to a managed arrary list using the <gcroot> wrapper. The array list that is returned is a list of class items. Anyway On the C++ side I have a class of the same type that is not managed code, just a plain...

Hi,
I try to develop a .Net class library using managed c++ and have several
problems:
- If I use operator new, I get a linker error because operator new is
missing. Searching the web I found out, that this is a well known
problem which has to do with the initialization of the C/C++ runtime
libraries. The proposed workaround looks not very promissing. But why
would somebody use managed C++ is you could not use common C++ features?

I am writing a MC++ wrapper for a native dll, that will be called by C#
applications.
One of the functions returns a CString parameter:
long GetProductStringDescriptor(int DevID, CString& sDescriptor)
My wrapper accepts a ref to a managed string (below) and needs to pass this
into to function so it is changed and returned.

I would greatly appreciate some help on passing managed object into unmanaged
code.
I need to pass a reference (address of) of a managed class into unmanaged
code (written by a thrid party). The 3rd party unmanaged DLL will pass this
reference into standard Win32 unmanaged static callback function in my code.
Inside this unmanaged callback function I need to cast this unmnaged pointer
that I have received from 3rd party back into the...

Hi there,
This is probably a really dump question but I'm stuck and need a leg-
up with this.
I'm writing a C++ interop layer that couples a managed plugin to an
unmanaged host (specifically its a managed implementation for a
Virtual Studio Technology -VST- plugin). So I'm writing a thin C++
layer that does little more than marshal calls to the managed layer.
In this scenario I need to call a managed method with an out parameter

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
