running update stats

Hi,

I am trying to run an update stats command but keep getting a syntax error:
Looking at the doco it looks like I can use:
update stats <table_name>;

but when I use:
mysql> update stats x_balance;
ERROR 1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax near 'x_balance' at line 1

What am I doing wrong.

thanks
pete

Could you tell url to the page of the document you refer here, because I
couldn't find anything like that from the manual.
