Problem during installing MySQL-server-standard-5.0.24a-0.rhel3.i386.rpm on Redhat 9

Hi,
When i'm installing MySQL-server-standard-5.0.24a-0.rhel3.i386.rpm by the following command:
rpm -i MySQL-server-standard-5.0.24a-0.rhel3.i386.rpm the following error is being shown:

I had checked for any previous installations of mysql and i found the mysql-3.28.58-1 and i deleted it from everywhere possible even then its showing this error......Plzzzzzzzzzzzz help me guys i'm stuck up bcoz of this error in my project and not able to move further.....Thanxs for hepl

Did you remove the previous version of mysql using rpm, or did you erase all mysql binaries by hand? If you did it by hand then the rpm database still thinks that a previous version of mysql is installed.

Try running the following to remove the old mysql installation from the rpm database:

rpm -e mysql-3.28.58-1
