How to run mysql script through operating system

Hi!,
I want to run the mysql script through operating system.
Just like in Oracle we run the sql script using
sqlplus username/password@hoststring @file_name.sql
Please help!!!!!

Hi

To run script through operating system is very easy.

First store your script in the any editor with.sql format.

that is store the script with the extension of .sql format

in dos give the command

mysql> source path of the script file.

that is your file name is script.sql and it is stored in c: mysql dir then the cmd

is mysql>source c:\mysql\script.sql;

There is another alternative, you can download mysql GUI Tool from the following site :

http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/gui-tools/5.0.html

it will give you a very friendly GUI for mysql, you can execute queries,scripts and load scripts from other files.

Note: try to download the "Without installer (unzip in C:\)" option, then unzip the file into a directory inside the "C:\program files" Directory, then run the query browser.
