lost files

i have lost 2 files from a flash drive . both files now have random numbers and letters on them . only legible writing gives the file name and the word autorecovery . so two questions 1. does this mean all is not lost .2 if so how do i recover them . i would be really grateful of some advice

Not sure about your file(s) issue. What OS were you working on.
