First off, I am mostly familier with PHP but am trying to make a
multi-step javascript program. For an example, I would like to run
different sections of the script depending on how many times the user
presses the submit button:
<form method="post" name="step1" action="test.html">

Hi, I'm new to JavaScript so forgive me if the answer to this question is

Is it possible to create URLs from function call operators?
For example, I'm trying to program an onClick function which will load a
webpage in one frame and an image in another, based on the name...

Wondering if this is possible?
Situation:
I have a frameset with a few frames in it that loads side graphics,
main navigation, subnavigation and content. Everything works fine.
Now, I decided to add a gateway index page with buttons that lead to a
specific page within the frameset. ie. aboutus, contact,
products,etc... The buttons work but...

Inspired by another guy's questions here I've created an isset function that
works (almost) like the one in native PHP:
function isset(variablename) {
return(typeof(eval("window."+variablename))!='undefined');
}
I use it like if(isset('myVar') { alert(myVar); }

Hi,
I have a input field like this

this calls validateUser() as soon as I update the input field and lose focus
from it.
What I want is that this validateUser() should also be called on the intial

This is a pipe dream, I realize, but I'm trying to emulate the
functionality of the W3C DOM-supported document.getElementsByTagName

Through some sleuthing, I was able to find what serves as a
document.getElementById emulator at

What I really need to do is determine the source of a frame (in this
case, a PDF) in a different window, close that window, and then launch
a new window with that source, displaying only the PDF. However, when
I try to access the DOM, it tells me that access is disallowed to
scripts from another domain. This strikes me as a bug, since the...

Howdy All!
JavaScript uses objects created by the host: Window, Document, Form and
Image objects
JavaScript creates other objects by itself: String or Date etc..
My question is: does it ever make a difference to the programmer whether you
using a host or a language object?
Thanks for any advice!

When a web page I created is bookmarked, for example using Ctrl-D or
Right-Click->Add To Favorites in IE, is there a way to intercept and/or
