Maven Is Complaining that Eclipse is Running in JRE, and Not a JDK

I and my co-worker are trying to use maven within eclipse to build and test a pre-configured project from Atlassian.

While I am comfortable using and developing code in Java, I'm not that familiar with eclipse.

When we start eclipse on my project, maven complains that eclipse is running in a JRE, and not a JDK.

I thought we had installed the JDK correctly.

Where do I look in the configurations to fix this problem.

Any guidance you have is appreciated.

Cheers,
Scott

Yarrrgh!

This is a terrible comedy of java versions in microsoft windows.

Or, maybe I should say an exercise in path.

Although the JAVA_HOME directory was set correctly, we still had to place the explicit JDK bin directory at the head of the path to override windoze Java behaviour.

I'm not sure which feet to lay this problem in front of - the I.T. people who did the installs, microsoft, or Sun's installer. Regardless, this is what I would consider a hack solution, and not a proper solution, which uses the tools as intended.

Do any of you have any input?
