Is Java open source, (now)?!

Ark

I’m sorry if this has been brought up before or not,
but I was just wondering, since I read somewhere,
before that, Java was going to be either discontinued in some form,
but continued as a “free” language (if it wasn’t already).

Is this correct? Or can anyone explain to me and everyone
what the situation is with this particular programming language,
as it is quite an interesting language at that,
and maybe add any positives and negatives, briefly,
as to why it would be a good language to code in.

Thank you for your time.
