Client drive letter to UNC from server?

Variation on a subject I've seen posted elswhere here.

Writing a simple JSP/JSF application, and I have a page with a "file upload" control. That part was easy.

The trick is that I want to translate the filename to a UNC reference (assuming that the selected file is on a server share), and the code is running on the server, rather than on the client.

The assumption is that the server does not have the same network drive mappings as the client. Is there a way for server-side code to query the client's drive mappings?
