Hello experts!

How can I use the parameters of this update to prevent executing the row of
body of this update when the update is called.
I'm using the observer pattern.
public void update(Observable o, Object arg)
{
textField.setText(String.valueOf(subject.getValue( )));
}

Under what conditions do you not want to execute the statement in update()?
