Can thumbnails be aligned without tables?

Hello,

Is it possible to align thumbnail images without the use of tables?

Yes, and it's been discussed in here before:

Essentially, you can just use a list element, switch the <li> elements to
block display, set a width, and float them to the left, setting margins and
padding as you see fit.

I have a page (valid html 4.01 strict) at

I marked up the gallery more generically, as a div. The gallery (and
3 others on the site) contain as many as 16 thumbnail images. In Moz
1.3/Win2k, the vertical and horizontal space between the thumbnails
are equal. Nice! Not so in MSIE 5/Win2k, where the rows have less
spacing than the columns. In O7/Win2k, the rows have move spacing
than the columns.

It'd be nice to get the spacing a bit more uniform, if possible. Does
anyone have any suggestions?
