Getting FORM to post only its own control values

Can anyone suggest a way of getting FORM to post only its own control
values? I find by default each FORM on a page POSTs the variables of all
FORMs on the page, and this prevents my common ACTION script from
processing each FORM individually. Thanks.

Usually this occurs from closing the form properly.

<form name="1" action="whatever" method="POST">
<!--your form stuff -->
<input type="submit">
</form>
<form name="2" action="whatever_else" method="POST">
<!--your form stuff -->
<input type="submit">
</form>

<form name="3" action="whatever_else_n_that" method="POST">
<!--your form stuff -->
<input type="submit">
</form>
Each of the above should work independently of each other.
