What should form controls be placed inside of?

Should form controls be placed in tables or divs? I'd assume a table if you were doing a form, I just want to check and make sure, thanks!

It does not matter. Both will work.

Ok, so according to today's standards either is fine?

I like using in a div rather than a table. I also like to make use of the fieldset, label and legend attributes. If you are writing compliant markup then your stuff should validate whether you are using tables or div.
