Headline appearance

Does any one have an idea of why my page always appears differently in Mozilla 2.0 versus Explorer 6.0. Here is the code below. You'll notice that the Headline appears much lower in Mozilla than in Explorer.

I suggest that you first fix you errors, you can view them by validating your markup. Also, it is recommend that you design for a standards compliant browser like FF, Opera, Safari etc and apply fixes for IE. Taking this approach will greatly reduce your headaches and the time spent designing your site.

Also, learn CSS. It will reduce the amount of markup needed to achieve the same thing.

Kevin this is very helpful! A couple of very important questions so I can be sure I am on the right path.

1) Is there an inexpensive HTML editor (with drag and drop visual) that creates cleaner HTML to begin with so I don't have to be fixing errors all the time. These pages were written using a Free editor called PageBreeze which apparently creates a lot of errors.

2) Are you saying that I should first conform my pages to Opera, and then do minor adjustments to IE? Then you are saying that pages will appear more correctly in Mozilla by doing this?

I have attached a couple of files that will help get you started. It is using a tabless design except where there is tubular data. Then it uses tables. Maybe this will help you see how much less markup there is and how much easier it is to weed through the markup to fix and correct errors.

1.) I don't use WYSIWYG editors so I am not sure which ones are standard compliant with the makup it generates.
2.) Always design for a browser that is standard compliant such as Firefox, Opera, Safari etc.... then add work arounds for IE. Test in IE last after you know that you have valid markup and CSS then worry about IE

3.)No, there is not any software that will fix you errors for you. That would be sweet.

I do argee with eWish in not using WYSIWYG editors, because this forces me to think about the structure of the html I want to create, which then results in lesser errors than the other way round. (drawback, you have to learn all the html language basics first)
