Setting table row height

With a code like this:

<div style="height: 7px; overflow: hidden;">

<div style="height: 7px; overflow: hidden;">

I have a row that always have 7 pixel of height, no matter its content.
Is it possible to achieve the same effect without having to use the DIV elements, so that I don't have to have a DIV inside each TD of the same row?

I tried to set the height and overflow styles to the TR and TD elements, but they didn't work as I expected.

The target browser is Firefox 2.0.

Any ideas would be welcome.
