Div Left/Right Align No Wrap Challenge

I have a situation where I need, on the same line, a left aligned div
and a right aligned div. When the window is resized and the div's
eventually touch, I need them NOT to wrap, but instead, enable the
horizonlat scrolling.

No table solutions please.

Just use the min-width property. Although I think I heard recently that
might not work on IE.

I havent tried it but would a containing div with "overflow:scroll" do
the trick?

I never used overflow: scroll really so not sure if it would work for
you.

No. Overflow happens under certain circumstances when things don't fit
in the available width. The overflow property describes how to handle
this (clip, allow it or provide scrollbars). It doesn't alter what the
available width is, or whether overflow will occur or not-- just what to
do if it does*

So if the aligned divs in this example were floats (which they are
likely to be), the UA should start putting them underneath each other if
the available width is too small, regardless of the overflow property.

* with some exceptions in Firefox which I won't go into.

I never used overflow: scroll really so not sure if it would work for
you.
