Can we use both Dremwever and Fronpage in a web design project?

Can we use both Dremwever and Fronpage in a project?

I'm wondering if a website can be designed/updated by both Dreamwever
and FrontPage at same time. I mean if memebers of a web design team can
use different tools while working on a
project. Is there any conflict between the works done by FrintPage and
DreamWeaver?

Thanks for your comments.

If FrontPage changes your code, then yes, there is a conflict. I don't
know about recent versions, but in the old days, FrontPage would make
some very ugly changes to the code that you wrote, such that if you
put a clean HTML file into the application, you would end up with a
mess on your hands as soon as you opened it. Dreamweaver doesn't
change your code, and is an excellent application, as well.

It's perfectly possible for different members of a team to collaborate
on a site using vi, emacs and notepad respectively; so I don't see why not.

Having said that, I had enormous difficultly persuading Dreamweaver to
edit pages like a normal text-editor - it seemed to have ideas of its
own about filename-suffixes, and created files I didn't ask it to. Call
me a newbie, I guess - it's a big, complicated program, and I just
jumped right in. Perhaps I should have taken the three-week training
course first, or at least ploughed through the manual.

No (unless there have been some very recent changes to FP). You can't
mix FP with anything else (except maybe VisStudio).

It's not (just) the code changing behaviour that causes trouble - it's
the dependency FP and VisStudio have on FP Server Extensions. Although
you "can" use them without, they are truly execrable to use like this.

FPSE depends on metadata held on the server (_vti_cnf etc.). Changing
the server state through any other tool (including ftp, rsync and file
copies) doesn't update this metadata. FPSE now gets confused and the
M$oft users are locked out of the site.

There are few reasons to use Dreamweaver, there are no reasons to use
FP. Convert your FP users to use DW - it won't take long and they'll
thank you for it.

Thanks all for your comments. Yes as Andy mentioned, my main concern is
about the integrity of directory structure and relation between files.
FP creates many private directories and files which DW may not know/use
them or may change them, I don't know.
