Size of Textboxes in Netscape 7.0

Hi,

I try to render a textbox in Netscape 7.0 which is exactly 5 chars
long:

<input style="font-family:courier;font-size:13px;" type="text"
size="5" maxlength="5" />

This results in a textbox which accepts a maximum of 5 characters but
reserves space for 6 characters! If I reduce the size to 4 then the
textbox has the proper size for 5 chars. Is size 0 based? Is this by
design? Is this a bug? Microsofts IE 6 displays the textbox as
expected.

Thanks,

Robert
