calculating elapsed time of script

I writing a Linux db2 udb sql script, not procedure, and one of the things that I would like to add is the elapsed time that the script runs. I'm having trouble defining start_time, end_time and elapsed_time. Start and end times should be from current time. Any help would be appreciated.

ok, I got the start and end times defined by
[code] select time(current timestamp) as start_time from sysibm.sysdummy1 [code]

now how does one do elapsed time, difference between end and start times?
