DB2 LUW 8.2 on Red Hat AS 2.1 - will it work?

aj
Its not on the DB2 supported environment page, but is anyone
running DB2 LUW 8.2 on Red Hat Advanced Server 2.1 (kernel 2.4)?
DB2 LUW 8.1 /is/ validated for Red Hat Advanced Server 2.1.

On OS upgrade is in the works, but I need to upgrade to DB2
8.2 first (bug fix).

Any help appreciated.

The following statement answers your question. it's from:
http://www.ibm.com/software/data/db2...latdist82.html

Phil Sherman
Validated Environments for V8.2 and V8.1

If you are upgrading to DB2 UDB V8.2 from DB2 UDB V8.1, you may continue
to use the Linux environments validated for DB2 UDB V8.1. However, DB2
UDB V8.2 products may no longer be supported on those environments once
DB2 UDB V8.1 goes out of support.

To see the list of Linux environments validated for running DB2 UDB
Version 8.1, please visit here
(http://www.ibm.com/software/data/db2...atdist81.html).

You can apply FP7 (or later) to DB2 on RHAS2, and that is supported. I
think there's a line drawn somewhere about what version of DB2 you start
with. New deployments of v8.2 should not use RHAS2, but existing 8.1
deployments can be upgraded to 8.2 fine. Upgrading your OS is still
recommended.
