connecting to remote 7.1 db2 database

hi all

im very new to using db2 so please excuse any obvious newbie questions
:)

my situation is this... we have a v7.1 db2 database running on redhat 9
and i am trying to use enterprise architect on a windows xp machine to
create some diagrams of the database via odbc.

i tried installing db2 8.1 personal edition on the xp to gain access to
their odbc driver and it seems to crash the 7.1 database when it tries
to connect, i'm assuming the version differnces are the cause.

i have also tried a trial datadirect db2 odbc driver with mininal
success, managed to import the database into an access database then
open that database in enterprise architect, but of course by this stage
it has lost all the foriegn key information, being kinda useless.

anybody got any ideas? know where i could get hold of a 7.1 odbc
driver? am i completely wrong in my assumptions?

thanks in advance for any info.

DB2 V7 is no longer supported. DB2 on Red Hat 9 has never been supported.

However, to answer your question, you need to download the version 7 client
to access a version 7 database server.

First, uninstall the DB2 V8 code you have (completely) and then install the
V7 client. You can get the regular runtime client (which has the ODBC
driver) or you can get the Administrative client, which also allows you to
use the GUI tools like the Control Center. The App Development client also
contains a stored procedure builder. The clients are free. Get the latest
one (FP13) for your operating system (Windows 32 bit).
