Local config vs. LDAP, weirdness connecting

Hi everybody,

please take a look at the "screenshot" (DB2 CLI), Server is V7, FP12
running on WinNT, LDAP service is on AIX, IBM Directory Server 4.1

D:\>db2level
DB21085I Instance "DB2" uses "32" bits and DB2 code release "SQL08021"
with level identifier "03020106".
Informational tokens are "DB2 v8.1.8.762", "s041221", "WR21348",
and FixPak "8".
Product is installed at "D:\PROGRA~1\SQLLIB".

D:\>db2 connect to svsprod1 user DBADMIN using xxx

Database Connection Information

Database server = DB2/NT 7.2.5
SQL authorization ID = DBADMIN
Local database alias = SVSPROD1

D:\>db2 connect reset
DB20000I The SQL command completed successfully.

D:\>db2 connect to svsprod1 user DBADMIN using xxx
SQL1031N The database directory cannot be found on the indicated file
system.
SQLSTATE=58031

D:\>db2 terminate
DB20000I The TERMINATE command completed successfully.

D:\>db2 connect to svsprod1 user DBADMIN using xxx

Database Connection Information

Database server = DB2/NT 7.2.5
SQL authorization ID = DBADMIN
Local database alias = SVSPROD1

D:\>db2 connect reset
DB20000I The SQL command completed successfully.

D:\>db2 list db directory
Database 1 entry:
Database alias = SVSPROD1
Database name = SVSPROD1
Node name = A1443A
Database release level = 9.00
Comment =
Directory entry type = LDAP
Catalog database partition number = -1
Gateway node name =
Alternate server node name =
Alternate server gateway node name =
(...)

D:\>db2 list node directory
Node 1 entry:
Node name = A1443A
Comment =
Directory entry type = LDAP
Protocol = TCPIP
Hostname = A1443a.11.am-gruppe.de
Service name = 50000
(...)

If I "db2set db2_enable_ldap=no" and do a local "catalog db" everything
works just fine. I can connect, disconnect, reconnect as I please.
Would
be great if anybody pointed me to some docs or something else I missed.

TIA Frederick Page (sorry Google somehow missed my real name)
