Redirecting DB2 output in Korn shell

Regards,
does somebody know why the variable YDAY is set to nothing in the following
Korn shell script (on AIX):

Script:

echo "--- ONE ---"
db2 "select current date - 1 day from sysibm.sysdummy1" | egrep
"[0-9]{4}-[0-9]{2}-[0-9]{2}"
echo "--- TWO ---"
YDAY="test"
YDAY=`db2 "select current date - 1 day from sysibm.sysdummy1" | egrep
"[0-9]{4}-[0-9]{2}-[0-9]{2}"`
echo "YDAY=${YDAY}[endOfYDAY]"
echo "--- THREE ---"

Script output:

--- ONE ---
2005-01-04
--- TWO ---
YDAY=[endOfYDAY]
--- THREE ---
Thanks,
dw

I can't quite reproduce your problem because I don't have AIX and my
egrep doesn't work like yours does. However, you might want to consider
specifying the -x option on the call to db2, since that will basically
produce the output you are looking for (no header row or number of rows
returned).
