How to write on serial port ?

Hi every one ,
I want to give command to my telescope using serial port connection , I am gonna send duration and direction . Can any one suggest me code to write on serial port and say how to use it?

software is accosiated with this code

I am assuming this is Windows (MFC?) from the afxMessageBox statement.

In Windows you open, read and write to a comms port using the functions CreateFile, ReadFile and WriteFile.

There are also specific com port handling functions to allow you to control the port and set/get events from it.

yeah it is MFC code, i dont have experience about how to use it and work with it, can you please elaborate more?
