how to print the word hello without using printf function?

Maybe by manipulating your own output stream to display to the console, and then use its print function?
Yes, printf eventually gets down to calling the same system call...uh...(mad cow disease kicking in)...don't know why I can't think of it. send? write? Jeez, I'm getting old.
But you can call that same call if you have the descriptor for the standard out set to where you want it.
