I'm a first year student!! just starting to program. My question is, How do i write (a) a program that will accept a student id#, name and GPA and store the information in a file.(b) Read the data from the file displaying records of students whose GPA is over 2.5. THANKS!!

What have you tried on this? Are you stuck at a certain point?

PS - these are our rules about posting homework, though you may want to have a look at the other rules as well. Thanks!

Whoops, I read your question wrong, I'll change the title of the thread here in a sec.

This is a good file IO tutorial. What you're going to do is declare a 'filehandle' so you can reference the file, and then use various IO controls to write your data in there. Anyway, that tutorial explains it better than I could, so have a look at that - it should get you started.
