Creating a new ***Welcome Message***

red floyd wrote:
Just a note: The FAQs have changed since the original Welcome message
was written.
These FAQs are now 5.10, 5.11, and 5.12, respectively.
5.9 is the "What newsgroup should I post to?" FAQ.

hey red floyd , thanks :)
Here is what I think:

1.) I want all of you here to submit the corrections needed to be
made to the our Classic ***Welcome Message***. Just post a single
line, very brief sentence here and I will make the necessary changes.

2.) This is quite old ***Welcome Message*** we have here. I think some
new questions need to be added in the ***Welcome Message*** and may
be, some content should be modified. If you have observed some common
questions and think they should be added. please post them.

3.) Any other suggestions.

I will welcome even email: ge*********@gmail.com but posting here is
a good idea, since everybody can comment.

( don't worry about the amount of time, I have plenty for comp.lang.c+
+ :)
thanks

Questions? Hmm... I don't think that's where they belong. The Welcome
message should be short, to the point, and essentially answer only two
questions: "where am I?" and "where to find the FAQ list?".

Indeed. The only reason I made the original comment was because of the
erroneous outdated info (not arnuld's fault) in the Welcome message.

Yeah... Those darn FAQ maintainers! Just try and keep up with 'em!
I'm glad 5.2 and 5.8 (my favorite) are still the same...

I'm on the newsgroups for a couple of years now and I have never noticed
the welcome message myself. Because my newsreader groups all welcome
messages in a thread this thread is displayed using the date of the
oldest message. Thus it is among the old messages.

I propose to somehow modify the subject line each time. This will
prevent the grouping of the messages into a thread. And so the new
message will appear among the other new messages and will be noticed.
