comparing files...

are there any commands that can compare two files? Comparing in the sense that the two files are alike... Because I wrote a program that makes a backup file of another file... Just want to know if the files are the same...

hope somebody can help me....

In current versions of Windows there is fc (file compare)

fc file1 file2

I am using turbo c++ 3.0 by borland, fc is not present in any library... are there any other ways I can compare these files?

You mean function then rather than command?

fc is a command and runs at the DOS command line.

There is no function to do anything similar.
