const strings in class

I need some constant strings (only char* but not std::string) in my class.
Here my example:

class CFoo
{
public:
CFoo();
~CFoo();
...

private:
const char* str;
};

CFoo::CFoo():str("string")
{
}

CFoo::~CFoo()
{
// do nothing
}

Is it right ? (without 'new' and 'delete')

It's OK. If you want to protect the 'str' _itself_ from changing (not
just its contents), then call it 'const' as well:

private:
const char* const str;
};
