C++ & FTP [Newb]

I am kinda new to C++ did it about 5 years ago in high school and am
kinda coming back to it now. Now to my question.

Is there a way similar to PHP to open an FTP connection and get a couple
of files then close the connection? PHP does it through sockets I
believe. Thanks!

Nope. There is no way in C++ as we discuss it here, in comp.lang.c++.
There might be a way, however, in your platform programming library.
But for that you need to ask in a newsgroup that discusses your platform.
