I have been messing around with buffers, and
I found it peculiar that the code below will
run without a segmentation fault.
As far as I know, overwriting the allocated space
from a call to malloc() results in undefined
behavior.
Any ideas why overwriting the dynamically
assigned space doesn't cause a segmentation

memory leak problem I am having. I am also using MEMWATCH and I think it
is working properly.

sockets aren't portable C, this is not a question about sockets per

Hi,
I've written the code that follows, and I use the function add_word(),
it seems to work fine
*before* increase_arrays() is called that uses realloc() to allocate
more memory to words. But *after* calling increase_arrays(), I
received segmentation fault. I tried to step it through gdb, and I
found out that after calling increase_arrays(), words's original
value is modified, and if I tried to access it, I get <address 0x11

Hello,
I'm trying to track down a memory issue with a C++ application that
I'm working on:
In a nutshell, the resident memory usage of my program continues to
grow as the program runs. It starts off at a nice 4% of memory, then
slowly grows up to 50% and beyond. This translates to around 2 gigs
of physical memory, and that's really way more memory than this
program should be taking up.

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
