VS2K8 Pro *MUST* reside on the system partition?!

VS2K8 Pro *MUST* reside on the system partition?!

I finally got a faster drive with a little more memory in my laptop
so I figured I'd upgrade from Visual C# Express 2005 to Visual Studio
2008 Professional (thank you, MS DreamSpark!).

Anyway, my system partition is 10GB. My "Storage" is ~100GB where I
am installing applications to -- however Visual Studio 2008
Professional insists on dropping at the LEAST -- 1.5GB in my system
partition.

I even went through an unchecked everything that said it installed to
my system partition (C:, in this case). The only entries I allowed
were to my large-ish partition (F:, in this case). No luck.

Is there any way to get that ~1.5GB from my system partition to the
storage partition?

I'm itching to get some mobile code brewing.

Thanks!

I expect at least some of that space is used for installing .NET 3.5.
You may well find that although it requires that much space to be
available, it doesn't actually keep that much space afterwards - it
may use it as a temporary area for extracting installers etc.

You might want to try installing .NET 3.5 first, and then see if the
VS2008 requirements are any lower.

Ah, good thinking Jon! Now if this silly .NET 3.5 downloader-installer
would stop stalling.

Grr...
