How could I get information about

- the HD serial
- the CPU speed & type
- Motherboard model
- MAC address
- RAM amount
- OS major & minor version

from the framework without the use of WMI?

There are two areas you can look at.

The first is WMI using the System.Management Namespace. Take a look at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en...Management.asp

Secondly look at the SystemInformation Class. Take a look at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en...WindowsFormsSy
stemInformationClassTopic.asp
nice example usage here
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en...WindowsFormsSy
stemInformationClassComputerNameTopic.asp

I use some of the WMI in an example app here.

Hope this helps
