Best way to fill a dataset from a select query

Hello,

I am calling a method many times over to return data from a query.... I
would like the most efficient method. Right now I am doing this:

namespace RecordsReturn
public hClass
{
OleDbConnection myConn = new OleDbConnection("Provider=ihOLEDB......
etc...");
OleDbDataAdapter adapter = new OleDbDataAdapter();

}

public DataSet ReturnRecordset(string startTime, string endTime)
{
myConn.Open();

DataSet myDataSet = new DataSet();

adapter.Fill(myDataSet, "ihrawdata");

return myDataSet;

}
It appears to crash whenever it feels like it (never at the same place, even
though the queries are the same every time I have run it) on higher speed
processors (tested fine on 300/600 MHz, crashed on 1.6GHz). Is there a
better method??? There must be.
