pluggable authorization (equivalent of jacc in j2ee)

Hello,

I'm not fully aware of the .Net framework security - so I'd be
grateful, if anyone here could answer a quick query.

Does the .Net framework support plugging-in of third-party
authorization providers? Is it possible to leverage existing role
based access control engines to enforce .Net role-based security? In
other words is there a standard equivalent to the JACC(http://
java.sun.com/j2ee/javaacc/index.html)?

thanks,

You can write or install a different membership provider for ASP.net
to work with whatever you already have in place:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/f1kyba5e.aspx

There are some third party ones out there, including one that uses
db4o, for example:

I'm wondering if it is possible in .NET to plug-in a custom authentication & authorization mechanism. So, that IIS applications and Webservice would be authenticated against this custom authentication & authorization implementation. This implementation would authenticate a user with a password and deliver the roles of this user in this...

So I can focus on the correct areas of research, I was wondering if someone could give me the .NET equivelents for this J2EE architecture: JSP's make calls to local JavaBean Controls. The controls do a JNDI lookup to invoke methods on EJB's. The EJB's use local Java classes, and these classes use JDBC to do database work. Example: ...

Hi all, I am rather new to database design and modelling concepts in general and was hoping for some advice on a problem I am trying to solve. I have designed a piece of software that creates a tree with pluggable nodes. Each node class can have 0 to n distinct classes plugged into it to define the type for that node. For example, a...

Hello, In Java the XML DOM is interface based, hence pluggable implementations. In ..NET it's been in from the start of course and is class based, but I notice there appear to be some alternate implementations appearing, eg xerces has been ported, and Saxon 8 .NET for XSLT 2.0 support (which if it's like Java will have a DOM implementation...

I was hoping I could do something like: WebRequest req = new WebRequest("mk:whatever") to retrieve HTML help topics via the mk: protocol. But it appears that http: and file: are the only supported protocols. How would one retrieve data via another asynchronous pluggable protocol under .NET? Pete

I am having a devil of a time trying to get Forms authentication to work in a very simple test webapp (I've gotten it to work many, many times when developing on my WinXP client box, but I've just switched to doing development/debug on a Win2K server with IIS5, and something is obviously wrong). Here's the site: login.aspx...

To those familiar with Java beans, question on how to do with ASP.NET: I come from J2EE and starting to learn ASP.NET and C#. I want to find a way to display a web form filled with data taken from a SQL table. I need to repeat the layout of my web form in one single page, each time with data taken from the SQL table row. I don't want to put...

I'm using C#, but I don't know that it matters for this question. I know that many experienced folks are on here, so sorry for being off topic. I am finally at a point where I want to and I think able to design software that is modular and pluggable. The only problem is that I'm not sure if I need to or if this lends itself to it. I have...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
