Crystal Reports Bug in VS2005

Has anyone had this happen to them?

I'm writing an application in C# using VS2005. Part of my application
requires that I use Crystal Reports to make some reports to print out.
Anyway, here's the buggy part...

While working on a Crystal Report in VS2005, I'll drag my data fields
onto the report and try to line them up as best as I can. Then I'll
drag and select the fields I want to line up, right-click, choose
Align, then Bottom (or Top, etc...). Then VS2005 goes into a fit and
crashes.

I've had the same thing happen both at home and at work and I can
repeat the same error every time. My event log says:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Microsoft Visual Studio
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 15/01/2007
Time: 10:29:26 PM
User: N/A
Computer: ATH2900
Description:
Faulting application devenv.exe, version 8.0.50727.762, stamp 45716759,
faulting module craxddrt.dll, version 10.2.0.1111, stamp 43068582,
debug? 0, fault address 0x002a1193.

etc...

I would have expected an error like this to have been handled in the
recent Service Pack, but I guess not. I could have sworn that I saw
something about a patch/upgrade from Business Objects but I can't seem
to find any information.

Any hints? Comments? Work-arounds?

hi wayne,
i just came across this same problem. i posted a workaround on my
blog (http://tim.mackey.ie/
FIXVS2005CrashesRandomlyWhenUsingCyrstalReports.as px), basically you
have to close any Crystal reports and safely restart VS. this way the
CR activeX control doesn't get a chance to load (and crash VS).

hope this helps
