event registration on postback question?

Hi,

Just want to get confirmation on the following:

I have a custom server control that I implements a postback - I dynamically
in my custom control's OnLoad event register the event handler for the click
event.

What I noticed was that I must also register this event handler also on a
postback or the event will never get fired! Is this correct behaviour or am
I missing something else.

Thanks in advance

Hi Donal,

That sort of makes sense to me. Because all postback work is done before the
OnLoad event is fired your Click event would be lost. The framework looks at
the data submitted by the control and raises the events. It would raise a
Click event but there would be no handler at that point (since you're not
assigning it until Load which hasn't happened yet)

You could put register the event handler in the OnInit event, which occurs
before postback processing.

If that doesn't help, let me know.
