I have a console application for which I have atttemped to use
TextWriterTraceListener.
The app uses System.Diagnostic
I want to trace or debug to Console and also to file.
code in Main() includes:
TextWriterTraceListener fw = new TextWriterTraceListener(myFile);
TextWriterTraceListener sw = new TextWriterTraceListener(Console.Out);
Trace.Listeners.Add(fw);
Trace.Listeners.Add(sw);

hello
I'd like to add a listener in the app.config of my application, something like
<add name="myListener" type="System.Diagnostics.TextWriterTraceListener"/>
I can use initializeData="mylog.txt" to trace in a file but I 'd like to trace in
the console but I can't find how to do ... I can't see any samples of that in msdn
or elsewhere
thanks for your help

We have implemented unhandled error trapping at the application level and
log these errors to our database. One error, however, the does not get
trapped is when the connection pool has exceeded the max number of
connections.
Obviously, we need to find the place(s) in our code where connections are
not closed correctly (espcially in loops), but I'm wondering if it's
possible to trap this error and to find out which part of our code (i.e....

Hello,
I'm trying to insert TextWriterTraceListener to web.config file, but it
fails all the time. This is my web.config file:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<configuration>
<system.web>
<compilation defaultLanguage="c#" debug="true" />
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" />
<authentication mode="Windows" />

Hey guys,
I just got some really weird behavior. I put the following code into the
Application_Start event in Global.asax:
// init some trace listeners
Uri codeBase = new Uri(Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().CodeBase);
string fileName = Path.GetDirectoryName(codeBase.LocalPath);
fileName = Path.Combine(fileName, "pmatsiemens_trace" +
DateTime.Now.ToString("yyyyMMddHHmmss") + ".log");

If add the following section to web.config for my ASP.NET, it fails to add
listeners at startup and raises exception: "Parser Error Message: Exception
in configuration section handler."
<system.diagnostics>
<trace autoflush="true" indentsize="0">
<listeners>
<add name="myListener"
type="System.Diagnostics.TextWriterTraceListener"
initializeData="myTrace.txt"/>

I am using a TraceSource object configured via app.config. In order to delete
the old file before starting the new trace, I need to obtain the filename
from the listener. What am I doing wrong in the following sample:
Dim trc As New TraceSource("HappySource")
‘filename returns Nothing:
Dim filename As String = _
trc.Listeners.Item("myTextListener").Attributes("initializeData")

Hi all,
I'm trying to use the Trace class to log messages to a simple text file.
I need to be able to provide a custom filename to be used. I've created
a TextWriterTraceListener and added it to the Trace.Listeners
collections but nothing ever seems to get written to the file.
The file does get created, but calling the Write methods doesn't seem to
do anything.

I set up a TextWriterTraceListener in the App.config file. I'd like to be
able to tell, programmatically, which file it's using. However, I don't seem
to be able to get at the initializeData attribute. The Attribute collection
attached to the TextWriterTraceListener is empty.
Any ideas as to how I might get at this file name without having to parse
App.config?

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. However, people are often confused as to whether an ONU can Work As a Router. In this blog post, we’ll explore What is ONU, What Is Router, ONU & Router’s main usage, and What is the difference between ONU and Router. Let’s take a closer look !

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
