All,
myself and another developer have been staring blankly at a screen for
the past 48 hours and are wondering just what stunningly obvious thing
we are missing.
We are trying to load up 2 or more user controls dynamically by adding
to a placeholder defined in page_load. I've included the sample code
for how we are accessing one. The user controls are not rocket science
- just a few text boxes with public accessor properties. We've...

I am writing an application that dynamically loads user controls at run time
based on user options. I would like to give my users the ability to build
their own user controls and add them to my user control folder so that they
can be selected and loaded at run time also. These new controls will need to
have access to many of the classes with there properties and methods within
the complied code. Is this possible? This seems to be the...

Hi there,
I am busy writing a new asp.net application and I am reusing some of my
existing asp functions and methods in a user control. I need access to
session, request and response in some of the functions and I can't find out
how to do it. Here is an example of what I do and I get the following
Cannot refer to an instance member of a class from within a shared method or
shared member initializer without an explicit instance of the...

Is there a way to access controls (and their properties) in a user control?
The Web Form Designer marks controls as 'Protected' which makes them
inaccessable from the host form. If I mark them as Public, I can access
them, but the next time the controls are manipulated in the design mode,
they are converted back to Protected. Is there an obvious/easy way around
this?
Thanks.

Hi
I am writing a MFC dialog application in which i am inserting a .NET
user control named WinUserCtrl. This .NET user control exposes the
control by a class CfgnUICtrl which is derived from
System.Windows.Forms.UserControl, and there are 2 methods
SetActionText(string sText), string GetActionText(). Now from the MFC
dialog, how do i access these methods?
I have tried importing the TLB WinUserCtrl.TLB in the MFC dialog.

Hello out there,
I´m making my first steps with ASP.NET 2.0 and have he following
problem:
I´ve implemented a Web User Control that sits in the root of my
ASP.NET Website. I want to use the Type of the control in a class
that´s under the App_code folder. As with ASP.NET 1.x, I tried to
reference the Control via the using keyword - but that didn´ t work,
because the Web User Control has no namespace (VS.NET didn´t add one).

Can anyone offer any advice please?
I have a page based on a master template.
In addition to a standard header and footer provided by the template the page displays a list of events and allows the user to add an event to their personal calendar
The page also displays the users personal calendar. This is provided by a Web User Control.
When an event is added it would be good if the routine that originally rendered the personal calendar...

I have a solution with 2 projects in it. I need to programatically
add a user control from one project into the other one (as you cannot
declare this normally on the form because it is in a different
application). When the page_load event of the user control is fired at
run-time, none of the form objects on the user control exist.
Is this a namespace issue? Or can you just not share a user control
over 2 projects without having a copy...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
