I ran into a situation this morning where the RowUpdating event of a GridView kept insisting there were no entries in either the
OldValues or NewValues dictionaries. The GridView is bound to a strongly-typed collection, derived from CollectionBase, through the
control's datasource property at runtime.
From some googling it appears that, at least in the release candidate for NET2 this was a known bug; only binding to DataSources
lets those...

I have a GridView bound to an ObjectDataSource. I have a Button that calls
GridView.DataBind. I want the row that is selected before the DataBind to
still be selected afterwards.
This happens automatically if the data doesn't change. But if records have
been added or deleted then it looks as if some code is necessary: I've done
this by using GridView.SelectedValue to get the key value of the currently
selected Row and then by itterating...

I have a number of simple select queries that a user needs to be able to
execute and display the data on the screen in a gridview. My thought was
that I could use a Gridview set to dymanically generate columns and bound to
a SQLDataSource. Then the user can click buttons (or whatever) and it
changes the SelectCommand property of the SQLDataSource and re-binds the
GridView.
That worked great until I enabled paging. When paging is...

I have a GridView that works fine when I bind it to an ObjectDataSource at
design time. But if I bind it at run time nothing happens.
On a button click event I say...
GridView1.DataSourceID = ObjectDataSource1.ID;
GridView1.DataBind();
What's missing?

Hi everyone,
In a datagrid the entire data is read but only the page you want is
displayed to the user when you enable paging. Does the Gridview control
works in the same way?
So if you have 100000 records and you only want 10 records displayed on
each page, does it read all 100000 and display 10, or does it only read
what it needs (Read 10 and display 10)? If it reads all, I can't see
how this control can be useful for anything but...

I've got a gridview that does not have a datasourceid assigned in the
markup.
I'd like to switch between two datasources in the codebehind. when I do
switch, I first reset the the
gridviewx.datasource = nothing and gridviewx.datasourceid = nothing
before setting it to gridviewx.datasource = newdatasoruceid and then
rebinding.
All appears to work well until I try to excute a delete command that

Hello,
I read some msdn and other articles about how does databinding among
DataSource controls and FormView / GridView controls works but I still don't
fully understand to this blackbox. I have few questions and hopefully you can
provide me some answers.
1. Best place for DataBinding.
Where is the best place for calling DataBind method? Is it possible to say
don't bind controls for this postback and use current values instead? These...

This is a repost of a reproducible problem/bug with GridView with dynamic
SQL and binding. Is there a better ASP.NET newsgroup I should post to where
MS techs or MVPs take an interest in such problems?
Thanks.
Here is an example of what I believe is a bug in ASP.NET 2.0 GridView paging
without postbacks (or at least not documented how to fix it). Once the
GridView is displayed, clicking on any of the paging tools causes the

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
