ASP.NET 2.0 ObjectDataSourc e question

Hello all,

The ObjectDataSourc e control uses reflection to create instances of business
components and call the appropriate methods to select, update,... data.

How can I use the ObjectDataSourc e control if I don't want to allow it to
instantiate the businesscompone nts directly but use a ComponentFactor y which
takes care of creating components. How can I use the ObjectDataSourc e
control with this factory. The code to create the component and obtain a
collection of business objects looks somewhat like this.

ICustomerCompon ent component = ComponentFactor y().CreateCusto merCompoment();
ArrayList customers = customer.ReadCu stomers();

Is this possible with the objectdatasourc e?

Kind Regards,
Kristof

My understanding is that this is a limitation, and the only work around is
to create a wrapper to your factory class which meats the ObjectDataSourc e's
criteria...

I'm having some trouble using the ObjectDataSource in ASP.NET 2.0. I have a wrapper that contains the static methods for Select and Update. The Update-method takes the business object as parameter. When the Update-method is invoked by the ObjectDataSource, the object referenced is not the same object returned by the Select-method, but a new object with only the values from the Edit-template. So basically I get a reference to a useless...

We would like to use those new cool features of Asp.Net 2.0 like the ObjectDataSource in our project. I tried few basics examples and its work well. Let's say I have a page that displays a detail of a product. On my page I have a product name and a short description. So I declare an ObjectDataSource in my page <asp:ObjectDataSource ID="productData" runat="server" SelectMethod="GetProduct"

Hi All, I have an ASP.NET page that displays a GridView control based on an ObjectDataSource control. I'm wondering if it's possible to base the ObjectDataSource in question on a parameter query, with the ability to set the parameter value at run time (in the Page_Load event, perhaps?)? Basically, I'd like to display records in the GridView based on values

Hi, Recently, my site has been generating errors which say: "Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached." I'm wondering if this might have something to do with the way that we use objectdatasource objects.

Hi all, Wondering if someone can help with a nagging problem I am having using a GridView and an ObjectDataSource. I have a simple situation where I am trying to delete a row from a table, but it doesn't seem to work at all. Below is my ASP.NET page, and further below, my VB.NET method that I am trying to call: <div id="admin-faq" class="page"> <h2>Site FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)</h2>

I really hope this is not a case of "this silly thing will never work".....lots of time invested in troubleshooting this already. I have created a standard ASP.NET web form (.aspx) with several collections of textboxes prompting for entry into a fairly monolithic database. I decided to create a business object (called Employee) and use the ObjectDataSource to broker data being transmitted between the UI and my Employee object (and...

Tried this over in CSharp.General and didn't get anything, so I thought I'd try again here. If there's an AJAX specific group I could ask this in, please let me know...I did look. I'm trying to code what I think is a fairly typical Master/Detail scenario with two GridViews, using AJAX. Using the Northwind sample, I have two ObjectDataSources - one which pulls data from the Orders table, and one that pulls the related data from . Each...

Hi, I'm using an objectdatasource. The insert procedure called by the objectdatasource is in a separate library file outside of the aspx and the codebehind that is using the objectdatasource in question (I guess that separate file would be called a bll). I had originally used the parameter list method to pass the inserted values to thie insert procedure which also gave me the ability to add a retun parameter to access the newly...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
