If I turn off anonymous access to an ASP page and then use "Integrated
Authentication" in a Intranet environment, I expected the user context to be
the user who is accessing the page. It doesn't seem to be the case.
I'm using a component (ASPUpload) to move a file to a share point on another
box. The user context that I thought I was running under has write access
to this share but I keep getting a 500 back when I run the page. Local...

I have a web service that needs to create a batch file and call it (since
there are no APIs for the functionality I am looking for). I am using the
Process and ProcessStartInfo objects. When I try to call the batch file, it
just returns with a return code of 1. When I call cmd.exe, and pass the
batch file as a parameter it hangs. After much frustration and aggrevation,
I found that CMD IS in fact running, but it is running under the context...

I'm attempting to use the context.user object. In my login code, I add
an identity to the context.user. I can use the debugger to watch it
stuff the identity into the context.user object, but when I later try to
check the context.user.identity.name it contains the empty string ("").
Does anyone know why this would be the case?

I am trying to configure my ASP.NET application and have come across
something unexpected.
First, I understand that all ASP.NET applications running on a single server
will utilize a single aspnet_wp.exe process. And that this process, by
default, runs under the context of the ASPNET username.
I would rather use a trusted connection to connect to SQL Server to avoid
having to put a username and password in a config file. However, if...

Hi,
I try to get the 'Context.User.Identity.Name' from inside the global.asax in
the 'Application_BeginRequest' event.
I get this error message:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
You can simple test this with:
Response.Write(Context.User.Identity.Name);

I am playing with GenericPrincipal classes and am using a sample program to
test it.
The problem is that even though I set the roles (which shows the roles in
the Context.User as being there), when the program goes from the login page
to the next page - the roles in the Context.User is empty.
My Login page is:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
