If <recordset update works> then Response.Write "works!"

I'm pretty new to asp and am just wondering if there is any way to get a boolean value from <recordset>.update.

I just want to be able to print a message that tells if the update command worked or not. There was a feature in JMail that you could set to make the execute method return a boolean. Is this available in a recordset object? My constant search with no avail points to no.
