How to get the day from a date

I am using ASP.NET.I would like to get the day of a date..For Example, I want to get 12 from 12/7/2005. What should I do? I need the day of the date to calculate the fine for library. So i want to deduct the due date with currect date and calculate the fine...So..What can I do?

The following code calculates the number of days between two dates:
