Give me a javascript function that updates a DIV from a database every minute

I have so asked this question.
Let it so be answered.

That's a bit rude, don't you think?

I'll do it for $95
And not a penny less. :-)

I think you got a little lost. The help desk is just down the hall on your

A. Don't post upside down
B. ASP is serverside - javascript is client side (you're more likely to
get an answer in a client side group, if you ask *nicely*)
C. This is not your 24/7 help desk

Of course I can! As I said, give me $95 and I'll be happy to do it! (Or you
can pay TomB his $100 ... I'm sure he'll support his solution better than
I'll support mine <grin>)

Actually, any of the ones who post regularly on this newsgroup can do it. In
fact, methods for doing this have been posted several times by the members
of this newsgroup. However, these methods have not been posted here! They
have been posted in the relevant client-side scripting newsgroups, in
response to non-rude questioners. If you cannot bring yourself to behave in
a civilized manner, then I expect you are going to have to rely on Google
for all of your future help (unless you want to hire me as a consultant ...
however, my prices are triple for rude employers ... )

You'd think the almighty and all knowing would realize that a
Javascript question wouldn't be answered in an ASP group...

Umm... I can. It's not ASP, so it's not on-topic.

By the way, the reason I know I can is I did a quick Google and found
a dozen variations on this inside of ten seconds.

I think it's a test - to see if anyone can be tempted to stray from the one
true path.

Actually, I would have no problem answering a server-side javascript

Exactly Bob.
I know this is ASP and that is Javascript. I know it is on Google.
Still, like i said, none of them can bring themselves to answer the question
and move on.
Instead they want to hear themselves chatter. They want to throw their own
dung against the cave wall and see where it splatters.
I am not making a rap here.
It's just that when you are as important as me, you need to test those in
whom you will place your trust before you give them $10 million dollars in
your will.

Thanks Bob. Do I have the spelling of your name correct? - "Bob Barrows"

You know, I didn't think about it being a server-side option. Perhaps
he is updating the DIV but not displaying it on the client?

Then again, what good would that be? Perhaps he's looking to push
this to client?

Even that's not a very pretty option. Though he was looking to do
this from a database, so the client would likely need to re-request
the page each time to refresh the DIV, right? Instead of the more
obvious and practical sending the DIV options the first page request
and cycling them in client-side script?

I'll relent, this *could* be a server-side Jscript ASP question and
*might* be on topic. If the original poster wasn't such a pompous
troll I might go through the effort of this on server side as a
programming exercise...
