Identify User for Future Use After Log-In

1 New Member
Howdy!

I've only been using Access for a few months, and I have run in to an issue that I cannot seem to find any solutions for. When we open our Access database, I set up a simple log-in form where you select your name from a combobox, and then enter your password. If it matches, the log in form closes and the user is routed to the main menu. The problem I am having is that I would like to capture the value, or name, of the person who logs in so that I can have the user name added to the Forms when they submit or add information. Adding this field to all my forms and table is easy, the trouble is capturing who logged in so that it can be entered in to the form automatically upon load. This I know how to do, just not the capturing the value part. I have considered using a Temporary Variable, but other forms and reports rely on temporary variable that must be cleared after submit or upon loading. Are there any other solutions?

You can create as many temporary variables (aka TempVars) as you want and that would be the way that I would recommend.
