ms access shortcut (access) keys ALT+key help

Hello,
Was hoping someone could suggest possible causes for form command button shortcut keys (ie. ALT+key) not to respond. Thanks :) The form is a search forrm. Shortcuts only work when there are filtered results diplayed. Hope this makes some sense. Thanks in advance for your help and ideas muchly appreciated! :)
