Update a new BE from the original

I had to create a new backend (BE) with 2 additional fields, and changing a text field to a memo field. How can I update the new version of the BE with the data from the original?

Do you think there will be any problem with the text to memo type conversion on one of the fields?

Thanks!

Just curious, why dont you modify a copy of the pre-existing BE w/ all the data?

As far as the text-to-memo conversion, it shouldnt pose any problems.. Unless you're using that field as a filter, or to pass values to a query, etc.

I agree with Megalog, the simplest thing to do is to modify a copy the BE with the latest data. We're only talking about a minute or two of work to do the modification.

As for the text field to memo field conversion, he's right on the money, also. Memo fields are great, as long as you will never do anything to them except store notes. That means you never need to sort or search or parse or do any other kind of manipulation using the fields!
