Query by Form

I'm quite new to writing VB and have started to build a form in Access 2003 (on win xp) based on variable search criteria using two form fields intended on being used within a query.

The process starts with the user selecting from the first form field named 'WhereFrom' which contains a list of field headers from my table 'IssuesMain'. The user then types text into the second field named 'StringSearch' and is supposed to click a command button which runs the select query.

Just an idea of my Table structure:

ID [PK]
DateAdded
Subject
OriginatorName
OriginatorDept
Priority
Proposed Resolution
Assignee
TargetCompletion
Status

Could someone please explain how it would be possible to tie this all together and provide an example of the syntax of any code(commented if possible) involved.

Many Many thanks,
Claude

Greets Claude, welcome to the forum!

Need a little bit more information from you..

You're executing this search off a form, but where do you want your results to show up? Do you want to filter the records on this form? Open a separate datasheet with all the results? A better idea of how you're using the data will lead to a better solution.
